Palawan

We choose Palawan as location for our work as we believed there is a lot work in defending this “last frontier of the Philippines”. As is widely known, Palawan is one of the few remaining resorts with a wide and unique variety of flora and fauna, both on land and under water. On the other side, human development breaks in with sheer violence and without much use of already known sustainable methods. The gigantic influx of tourists onto the “best island of the world” (Travel and Leisure magazine, 2015 and 2016) gives reason for higher energy needs, the building of roads and the like. At the same time, in the South of Palawan, oil palm plantations are growing. We believed and still believe we can be of help, together with many other willing individuals, government and non-government institutions, in protecting the island´s natural wealth and developing it according to sustainable points of view.
